| Dear Friends, It is hard to believe that a year has passed since the beginning of the war in Ukraine. Little did we know how much Golden Apple Institute would be involved in helping refugees from Ukraine at this time. Since the war started, 9 million Ukrainian citizens seeking shelter have crossed into our Polish borders. Over 1.5 million of them have decided to stay in our country. When the war began, we knew immediately that we needed to help. We quickly organized New Hope Distribution Center for refugees from Ukraine. Other churches and organizations have also entered into this massive endeavor with us. It’s been amazing to see how God has used this place to make a difference in the lives of so many people. Since opening New Hope, we have distributed over 82,000 humanitarian aid packages. We focus on helping the most needy and distribute food packages while providing clothes and basic help to the people who come here from war zones in Ukraine. Our guests usually have nothing or not much at all. They are typically women with children and elderly people. On top of humanitarian aid we also provide counselling, distribute Christian literature and offer prayer to those who are open. We have over 20 volunteers from Ukraine who are involved in daily help. We encourage you to read some VOLUNTEER ARTICLES compiled by Ben Cavazos to understand what goes on at the Center. His recent magazine stories describe the hearts of many of our key volunteers. Our aim is to be the hands and feet of Jesus to those who are in need as we bring the hope of Christ to all the refugees who are broken by the tragedy of war. However, what is most important to us is to be faithful in sharing the heart of Christ with others. James 1:27 defines the kind of religion that God accepts: “To look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world”. This is our motivation and heart to bring new hope to those in need! Of course we continue with our School of Biblical Discipleship, our School for Speakers and Leadership Forum while running the New Hope Distribution Center. We would not be able to do these ministries without your loving support for our ministry here.
